6th Grade General Music class meets 90 days - every other session, 23 consecutive days per session.

6th Grade General Music students build on the curriculum taught in 5th grade while challenging themselves to explore and experience music at a deeper level with more advanced concepts. Highlights of the class include instruction in the music lab where they learn advanced music theory and an extensive unit on Instruments of the Orchestra which includes interactive music lab software.

American Folk Songs (Part 2, 1865-1960's)

American Music Theater

Exploring America’s Music

Instruments of the Orchestra (music lab)

Music Ace Maestro (music lab)


Grading:

Class Participation = 50% (see attached participation rubric for grading details)


Written Assessment = 50% (can be comprised of tests, quizzes, and/or workpackets)


Depending on the session class is held in, participation can count anywhere from 75 to 100% of the total grade.
Some sessions will not be given a written assessment.
